About Chris Murray

Chris has been educating and serving his clients as a dedicated financial professional since 1989. He has been President of Murray Financial Group since 1994 and prior to that was a Senior Consultant for a private asset management firm with over 100 million dollars under management.  Voted “The Best Financial Planner” in Frederick by Frederick Magazine’s readers in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010,2011, and 2012, Chris has also been recognized as one of the magazine’s “People to Watch” for helping to make Frederick County a better place to work and live.  He was also recognized by Ticker magazine as one of the top ten financial advisors in the country for his dedication and commitment to his clients. In 2012, Chris was recognized as one of the “Top Wealth Managers” in the Greater Baltimore region, as nominated by the readers of Baltimore Smart CEO magazine.

Currently completing his Master’s Degree in Financial Services, Chris holds three board certifications from the Institute of Business and Finance in LaJolla, CA. He is a Certified Fund Specialist (CFS), Board Certified in Mutual Funds (BCM), and a Certified Senior Consultant (CSC). He adheres to a strict professional code of ethics, and meets annual continuing education requirements in order to maintain his expertise and certifications.
Chris produces and hosts “Your Financial Editor”, a weekly radio program on 930 WFMD. The show, going on its 15th year, focuses on business, finance and economic information and events. Chris has been honored to interview nationally recognized guests such as James Parker, former CEO of Southwest Airlines, Jonathan Tisch, CEO of Loew’s Hotels, Dr. Stephen Covey, author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and Harvey
Rosenblum, Chief Economist for the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank. In addition to the show, Chris provides three daily business/financial market updates, and is a regular contributor to the Frederick News Post. He has also contributed to The Wall Street Journal, Baltimore Smart CEO magazine, Maryland Life magazine, and has appeared on Fox 45 and Frederick’s Comcast Channel 10. Chris is often quoted in the media on domestic and international affairs, and is frequently asked to speak at and host seminars for both professional and charitable organizations. Chris has received multiple awards for his dedication to reporting and education, including three Crystal awards for Broadcast Excellence and the U.S. Small Business Administration’s “Maryland’s 2007 Small Business Journalist of the Year” award. He is also an active member of the
National Press Club in Washington, D.C. Chris is a member of the Institute of Business and Finance, and the New York chapter of the National Association for Business Economics. Locally, Chris served on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross, was the Chairperson of the Estate Planning and Charitable Giving Committee,and was President of the Lions Club of Frederick. He currently serves on the Charitable Giving Committee for Frederick Memorial Hospital. He is also on the Finance Committee at his church. Chris, along with his wife, Carole and their three children, are life-long residents of Maryland.
